Compass gives Fund Providers and Distribution Partners a single place to explore, monitor and report fund data across the Clearstream ecosystem.
I focused on making complex financial data easier to interpret and act on — improving the visibility of fund changes while reducing the amount of manual tracking required from users.
Clarity in Complex Data
Helping financial professionals explore, monitor and understand large volumes of fund data without losing the context behind it.
The existing experience made relevant changes difficult to spot and increased the cognitive load of routine monitoring.
Improving data visibility — Restructured the dashboard to distinguish between all changes, fund changes and provider changes, turning an undifferentiated stream of information into clearer areas of focus.
Optimising dense tables — Reduced unnecessary columns, improved information hierarchy and introduced clearer filtering and scanning patterns. The goal wasn’t simply to show less information — it was to provide the right information in the right context.
Designing for predictability — Established clear states, explicit system behaviour and scalable interaction patterns. In a data-heavy environment, users need to understand what the system is doing and why, particularly when actions and changes have downstream consequences.
Designing for auditability — Treated traceability and transparency as part of the UX rather than purely technical requirements. Important changes needed to remain understandable and verifiable throughout the experience.
Fund data carries real financial and regulatory weight. Every screen had to hold up not only from a usability perspective, but also under scrutiny from compliance, operations and financial professionals.
That creates a different design challenge from most consumer products. The interface cannot simply feel simple — users need to understand what the data means, what has changed and what the system is doing before they can confidently act on it.
For Compass, clarity was therefore not just a usability goal. It was part of making the product trustworthy.
